Just a strong match for a brief stopover in Rye with very good value for money. The pub serves delicious food and great ales. Choose a room away from the pub to avoid noise at night.

I loved the enchanting ambiance of The Standard Inn, with its beautiful wooden beams and cozy fireplace creating a welcoming atmosphere. The staff were wonderfully attentive, ensuring my stay was both delightful and comfortable as a senior guest.
A ceiling fan would have improved room comfort.

Breakfast to die for
Wow, the full English breakfast here was unreal—def the highlight of our stay! Evening meals were fab too, super tasty. Staff were so helpful, even went and got fly spray for our room, which was kinda annoying. But overall, the dining experience was top-notch, especially in the cozy bar area.

The location is fantastic, with a lovely old building charm that makes you feel right at home. Breakfast was excellent with a lovely spread, and the local eateries nearby are a treat. the noise from the bar below made it a bit challenging to sleep at times. I wish the room had better amenities as it felt a bit cramped at times.

Diving into the local eats, we dined at Hoof, where the wood-fired dishes had us dreaming of their smoky flavors. the breakfast at The Standard was top-notch with a lovely spread. The quirky charm of the place really shines through too!
But alas, our dining experience at the pub was a letdown. we waited forever for our starters, only to be ghosted by the staff. And the room wasn't exactly as advertised. it felt cramped with dodgy amenities.

We dined in the inn and were immediately impressed by the enthusiastic and skilled young staff. They were attentive without being overbearing, and the food was just delicious – really tasty and well-prepared. Our kids loved the variety on the menu.
In my wife’s opinion, extra hooks for towels would be great for families with children.

missingWrote a review on Jul 21charming characterlovely breakfastnoisy environment
Charming character of rooms with unique antique furnishings adds a historical vibe. The breakfast spread offers a lovely variety, making mornings enjoyable before exploring the surroundings. Conveniently located, it's easy to wander around the area and soak in the sights.
Noise levels during peak pub hours can be disruptive, with conversations from below easily heard in the rooms. Beds, while cozy, may not suit everyone, especially if you find a sloping mattress uncomfortable. Limited shower facilities and an inconvenient access process with narrow stairs could be a hassle with mobility concerns.

Perfect for a cozy escape
I really enjoyed the sumptuous bed that just wraps you up like a cocoon. Plus the breakfast was to die for, fresh ingredients and just the right amount to start the day.
It certainly wasn’t a bargain but honestly you get what you pay for.
